Why I Love Harry Potter

I have been rereading the Harry Potter books, and I’m currently on the Goblet of Fire. My wife is pregnant and she would tell you I’m obsessed. She is currently pregnant with our first child and the theme of the nursery is Harry Potter.

I love these books, and I’m not the only one. So many people have fallen in love with Harry Potter. Harry Potter is a series that everyone has heard of and I think will continue to be a favorite long after my time has passed. Why though? Why have these books left such an impact on the world?
First off, it is a well written book, and like many other books it allows us to escape to a new world. Its story just sucks you in and paints a world in your mind that is so believable and real.

Then we have Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Remus Lupin and so many other characters that we have fallen in love with and can relate to. We see them learn and grow and feel like we are right there with them every step of the way.

Harry Potter also teaches us about good vs evil, about love, friendship, prejudice, loss, overcoming trials, and many other things about life. For those of us who grew up with Harry Potter, we were growing up with the characters. We were shown how hard life can be, but showed us that we can overcome anything. We were shown how important good friends and family are. We were shown how cruel the world can be, and that we choose our own destiny.

Harry Potter may just be a story, but it is one that has become a large part of me. It has allowed me to connect with other fans instantly which I think is truly unique. It has allowed me to escape the hardships of life for a moment, and come out feeling renewed and ready to take on anything. It has taught me so much about life and friendships.
I hope you enjoyed this post, and if you are a Harry Potter fan then let me know what house you are in. (I’m Hufflepuff according to Pottermore.)

Goodbye for now and remember, draco dormiens nunquam titallandus.
